Character NAME: Squall Leonhart
Canon & MEDIUM: Final Fantasy VIII (video game)
Canon PULL-POINT: Disc two, when Ellone leaves with the White SeeD.
Character AGE: 17
Character ABILITIES: Squall was raised in a military academy and trained from an early age to be a mercenary, so he has had extensive combat training. His weapon is a gunblade, which is a sword with a revolver handle; by triggering a round (which are unlimited in the game, and rely instead on proper timing), he can send a shockwave through the blade that deals extra damage to his enemies.
When his health becomes critical, Squall has a high chance of using a Limit Break, and his is called Renzokuken. During Renzokuken he charges forward and attacks a certain number of times, determined by his Crisis Level, and at the end there's a chance for a finishing move. With his current gunblade, Squall is only capable of using Rough Divide.
Squall is also capable of summoning Guardian Forces, beings of great power, through Junctioning, which is a device/process that simulates some powers of Sorceresses in his home world. This process allows him to not only summon them to aid in battle, but it also makes him capable of junctioning para-magic to improve his strength, defense, speed, etc. The more Squall summons a GF (or uses spells of their element/particular items), the greater their compatibility will be, which means that he can summon them faster. However, he can only hold 100 of a particular spell at a time, and junctioning also comes with a price; the Guardian Forces draw power from a person's mind, which causes them to lose their memories. These memories are typically from an early point in life, and can be recalled by external help such as through a diary or by someone else who remembers.
He currently has three Guardian Forces Junctioned to him; Shiva (an ice GF), Quetzalcoatl (lightning), and Brothers (earth). He has 100 Fire, 30 Fira, 100 Blizzards, 50 Blizzaras, 100 Thunders, 20 Thundaras, 20 Doubles, 100 Cures, and 50 Floats.
Character HISTORY: Squall's entry at the Final Fantasy Wiki, up to the point where Ellone leaves Garden with the White SeeD.
Character PERSONALITY:
"Why do people depend on each other? In the end, you're on your own."
Those who know Squall will say that he is a cold, emotionally distant young man. Described as a "lone wolf," he avoids forming relationships with others, preferring to keep to himself. He often states that he doesn't rely on others and that he's perfectly capable of getting by on his own. When other people come to him wanting support, he pulls away, often being cruel in the process. As a trained mercenary, he excels at following orders and often has little reason to question them; it's only in cases where his life is threatened that he fights back, such as when NORG prepares to sacrifice him and his teammates. He's also a good leader, despite all evidence to the contrary. His teammates often look to him to take charge because he's willing to step up and do what needs to be done. There's a sense of pride about him that draws others to him, even when he doesn't want to be relied upon.
"As long as you don't get your hopes up, you can take anything... You feel less pain."
Deep down, Squall is emotionally stunted; his earliest memories are feelings of abandonment when his "big Sis" Ellone disappeared, leaving him to feel unwanted. He swore to himself as a child that he would be able to take care of himself, and due to the memory loss caused by using Junctioning, all he remembers is the fear of losing someone close to him. This fear is why he pushes people away, and also why he's terrified of the idea of having to rely on someone else. With only his own thoughts to keep him company, he stays in his own world, hiding behind the walls he's built to keep himself safe. He secretly worries about what other people think of him, and finds it easier to just project an image of being uncaring and unfriendly in order to keep people away.
The failed assassination attempt on the Sorceress started a chain of events that have left Squall feeling confused and conflicted. He's starting to realize that eventually he will have to rely on others, and this has him shaken to the core. Being the de facto leader of his team has put him in a position where he has to look after the well-being of others which is something he's not accustomed to. There's a wariness that's set in since underhanded politics led to him to be stabbed, tortured, his home nearly blown up, and the Garden master trying to have him killed. For the first time he's starting to question the path he's on, leaving him feeling unsteady.
» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: Squall's weapon will be his default gunblade, Revolver. Over time the gunblade will become slightly stronger; the stronger the gunblade, the more attacks he can perform during Renzokuken and the stronger his finishing move. Each "evolution" will give his gunblade a 5% increase in power. Every 15% increase in strength will give him one more attack during Renzokuken and strengthen his finishing move by 5%.
Chosen SKILLSET: Squall is a fighter and (in his near future, timeline wise) will be sent as a diplomat, but combat is his strong suit. He's a capable leader, but equally content with following orders.
Character INVENTORY: Squall will be arriving with his gunblade, the clothes on his back, three GFs (Shiva, Quetzalcoatl, and Brothers), his magic, some potions, and some gil.

First PERSON: [The video turns on to show a surly teenager glaring at the screen. Deciding to skip introductions, he speaks, directing his ire toward the Powers That Be.]
I don't know what this "Initiative" is, and I don't care. Your problems are not mine.
[He exhales heavily, fighting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose.]
I have enough on my plate. Send me back to my world and find somebody else to fight your battle.
[Just as abruptly as the video began, it now shuts off.]
Third PERSON: After finally getting a handle on his new surroundings, Squall found that he continued his usual routine from Garden; holing up in his room until he can't bear to be left alone with his thoughts, then go out to eat or train. Lather, rinse, repeat. The monotony was second nature to him, a soothing balm for his frayed nerves. Being stuck in a new place with little choice but to work for his kidnappers had left him rattled. For the first time in his life (at least, that he could remember), he was separated from his home with no way to return, and he didn't how to deal with that. Working for the Initiative was giving him some direction -- after all, following orders was like second nature to him -- but he wasn't sure how he felt about it.
After a rigorous bout of training, Squall was on his way to get something to eat when he passed by a young woman. She was obviously a Transport, and he felt like he should know her, but her name eluded him. The woman seemed to more readily recognize him, however, and turned towards him, a friendly smile on her face. He stood still, watching her approach. There was a part of him that wanted to stay and allow her to engage him in conversation, awkward as it would be. He'd had little contact with the other Transports since arriving, yet here was the chance to change that.
Clenching his jaw, Squall turned and left, heading back to his room. There was no point in talking to her. He didn't need to make friends in this place, he needed to find a way out. Why bother getting to know any of them when he'd be leaving the first chance he got? He knew that they'd do the same.
